Promotional Key Fobs
By Sean Healy of Steel City Marketing
Along with Promotional Pens and Paper Products, Promotional Key Fobs are among the most practical of gifts. Like the other two categories, they are pertinent for a great number of events and suited to both sexes. Car Dealerships are an obvious outlet where Companies often combine their Dealership Name with the Logo of the make they sell. In this area of the market the expense of a quality Key Fob is easy to justify. Relative to the cost of the vehicle, the price of a top quality key fob is an insignificant. Weighty all-metal fobs are often used, employing laser-engraving for personalisation and creating a quality item with great impact. Leather items are making a comeback and a return to more traditional look is increasingly popular. Leather Fobs with Stainless Steel or Gold-plated decals, usually die-stamped, are once again being seen. The rise in imports from the Far East has impinged upon this sector of Promotional Activity. Heavy good-looking Fobs in a great variety of shapes and sizes are now available. These are almost always laser-engraved - a process introduced not many years ago. This type of engraving enables small detail to be reproduced and quite intricate designs can now be faithfully reproduced – seldom possible using traditional methods. Straight - forward Stainless and Gold-Plated Key Tags still hold their market share. There are in the main two methods of personalisation. One involves the production of a steel die bearing the required image, which is then stamped into the metal. Colour-filling this impression is normal and can be undertaken using corporate colour schemes. The other is screen-printing – these days from one to four-colour process. It is recommended that screen print on metal should have the addition of a protective plastic (Devlon) dome. This ensures that the branding has a longer effective life. At the lower end, price-wise, are Clear Acrylic Fobs. These can bare a two-sided message using traditional litho printing. Designs can be faithfully reproduced from one to four-colour process printing. These fobs are normally two-part, consisting of the main part of the fob which accepts a printed insert. This is then secured in place by a clear “window”, the final effect being one of a solid clear fob. Prices for this type key ring is typically £0.20 to £0.30. Promotional fobs are produced in numerous other materials. Flexible plastic, Bonded (Reconstituted) Leather and specially moulded resin are alternatives. Liquid-filled fobs are a relatively new addition. So, the ubiquitous Promotional Key Fob is still alive and kicking and, as always, in constant use. |
